AB Amber Grid and PAO Gazprom signed a new long-term agreement on the transportation of natural gas to the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation through the Republic of Lithuania

The agreement, based on which AB Amber Grid currently transports natural gas to the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation through the Republic of Lithuania, is valid until the end of the year 2015. On 24 December 2015, AB Amber Grid and PAO Gazprom signed a new long-term agreement on the transportation of natural gas to the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation through the Republic of Lithuania for a period of 10 years: from 1 January 2016 until 31 December 2025.

The validity term of the agreement is tied to the period of the payback of the significant investments (made until the end of 2010) into the enhancement of capacities of gas transmission to the Kaliningrad Region. The agreement is based on the standard transmission services agreement, and prepared following the provisions for the Rules for the Use of the Natural Gas Transmission System of AB Amber Grid.

In the agreement the capacities of 10.5 million m3/ day at the System Entry Point for the Belarussian Transmission System and capacities of the same size at the System Exit Point to the Kaliningrad Region are booked. Any additional capacities at these points or at other Entry Points would have to be booked in line with the procedures as provided for by the Rules for the Use of the Natural Gas Transmission System of AB Amber Grid.

Annual revenue from the gas transmission services under the newly signed agreement will amount to EUR 10 - 11 million and will be comparable to the current level of the revenue generated by these services.

The agreement stipulates that during the course of the period from 1 January 2016 until 31 December 2025   annual transportation of natural gas on "ship or pay" terms shall make up 2.5 billion m3.
