Lithuanian gas transmission system operator Amber Grid aiming to benefit on the synergies of the common EU gas market and to enable to offer the most advanced gas trading solutions to customers of the regional gas exchange GET Baltic plans to announce a selection of a strategic partner of the exchange. This week, the planned sale of a part of GET Baltic shares to a selected strategic partner was also approved by the Boards of Amber Grid and its holding company EPSO-G.

Despite high prices, gas consumption in Lithuania remained stable

According to the data of Amber Grid, Lithuania consumed 24 terawatt hours (TWh) of gas in 2021, which is 4 percent less compared to 2020, when Lithuania’s gas demand was 25 TWh.

Taking into account the directions of energy transformation, in pursuit of decarbonisation of the economy and implementation of provisions of the European Green Deal, Lithuania is starting to draft the national guidelines for the development of hydrogen technology. Having conducted a detailed analysis, independent foreign experts, in cooperation with Lithuanian institutions and companies, will present possible value chain solutions for the hydrogen sector.
