New electronic service platform for the register of guarantees of origin

New electronic service platform for the register of guarantees of origin

The new electronic register system for guarantees of origin of green gases, administered by Amber Grid, has started operations. The system will provide safe, reliable and convenient access to data on guarantees of origin for green energy producers, suppliers and other market participants. The system operates on the Certigy platform developed by the Czech company Unicorn Systems. In the register of guarantees of origin, market participants will be able to create separate accounts, they will be able to efficiently and simply administer the processes of guarantees of origin, monitor the balances of guarantees of origin in real time, transaction statistics, and initiate individual administration actions themselves.

Please join the electronic guarantee of origin register system here.

Amber Grid is the appointed administrator of the Register of guarantees of origin of green gases, authorized to perform the services of issuing, transferring, and revoking guarantees of origin of gas produced from renewable energy sources in Lithuania.

Following the connection of the first biomethane plant to the gas transmission system last year, 47 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green gas produced in Lithuania with guarantees of origin were injected into the system in the second half of the year. The import of biomethane produced in EU countries and meeting sustainability criteria started at the end of 2022, bringing the total amount of biomethane imported into Lithuania in 2023 to 40 GWh with guarantees of origin recognised in Lithuania.
